Riding Mountain National Park Website

This wilderness park features over 3,000 sq. km (1,150 sq. miles) of boreal forest, aspen parkland, deciduous forest and open grasslands and meadows. Cool blue-green lakes, rushing crystal clear rivers and dense green forests, Riding Mountain National Park is a precious resource, hosting one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in North America: It is home to the majestic moose and wood bison, elk, deer, black bear, beaver and over 260 types of birds.

The area is a haven for outdoor wilderness experiences and wildlife viewing, including a herd of bison living in the park. Outdoor enthusiasts delight in the rolling wooded terrain; exploring dense, leafy forests; Ūshing the deep clear lakes; and camping in the upland meadows. Day-use and overnight trails are designed for hiking, cycling, or horseback riding. Interpretive programs are offered. There are several campgrounds and picnic areas at many of the lakes. Reservations are required for camping in the backcountry.

Spectacular parks lend the region its sense of grandeur and adventure. RMNP is a year-round playground of Ūshing, swimming, windsurŪng, golŪng, skiing and snowmobiling. Downhill and cross-country skiers, snowboarders and tubers Ūnd ongoing challenges and excitement in this winter paradise.

Seekers of unique cultural experiences will want to visit Anishinabe Village Camp within Riding Mountain, where today's Aboriginal descendants keep time-honoured traditions alive.
