About the Project

I designed and developed this logo as part of the overall graphic treatment of a video spot. The group project was to create a 30 second video spot promoting the Digital Multimedia Technology (known as 'DMT') course I am taking. I was responsible for the graphic design, logo and the visual treatment of the video as a whole. I started off with the logo and colours, and icon colours and placement.

About the Approach

Because the logo was to be seen on video, I needed a font that had substantial weight, and would 'read' well even when fairly small on the screen. I wanted a modern font, yet deliberately stayed away from 'techie' fonts, because they tend to be harder to read on screen, and I felt it was too easy to fall into that cliche. The bright colours were, I felt, eye-catching and fun, and went along with the rather humorous spot we created. We used tints of these colours to colourize the photos used in the spot, as well.
