Textured Walls, Fantasy Building series
Textured Walls | Fantasyscape walls, Photoshop Detail Description

About The Project

This photo, fairly different than the other 4 in this series, was used near the end of the "camera fly-through" video.

This set of photos are quite altered from the originals. They were originally a sandy light-ochre colour. I made them violet to bring out their surrealistic quality. I took these photos of the walls at the Winnipeg Square Concourse (an underground shopping mall) because I really enjoyed the pebbly, sandy texture and the wonderful patterns. I look at them and my imagination runs wild with all sorts of images and stories.

These surrealistic walls are a major part of my fantasyscape interior. Like the previous series, I took these photos to use in a 3D motion graphic video. These walls would help create the spooky interior of a building, using a "fly-through camera" technique.

About the Technique

The neon-like blue-turquoise-green shape at the bottom of this photo was just a happy accident. It reminds me of the Northern lights, and its mysteriousness certainly adds to the eerie feel.

I bumped up the contrast in Photoshop, with an eye to bring out the edge detail. I also changed the colour from sandy ochre to the violet you see here. As well, I darkened the overall photo, for the spooky mood.
