About The Project
This set of photos are quite altered from the originals. They were originally a sandy light-ochre colour. I made them a violet colour to bring out their surrealistic quality.I took these photos of the walls at the Winnipeg Square Concourse (an underground shopping mall) because I really enjoyed the pebbly, sandy texture and the wonderful patterns. I look at them and my imagination runs wild with all sorts of images and stories: they remind me of when I was a youngster and I would gaze upon the textured ceiling at my grandparents' house, or gaze upon the shapely clouds in the sky, and I would "see" all sorts of animals or jungle scenes or castles.
These surrealistic walls are a major part of my fantasyscape interior. Like the previous series, I took these photos to use in a 3D motion graphic video. These walls would help create the spooky interior of a building, using a "fly-through camera" technique.
About the Technique
The double image seen in this photo was intentionally created with a slight shake of the camera.I bumped up the contrast in Photoshop, with an eye to bring out the edge detail. I also changed the colour from sandy ochre to the violet you see here. As well, I darkened the overall photo, for the spooky mood.
