Frosted Windows | Fantasyscape series, Photoshop Detail Description

About The Project

I love photographing interesting spaces and architectural interiors! Architectural details are fascinating to me, especially the details of older buildings. The "Fantasyscape" series was initially photographs taken of walls, ceilings, and floors. I did have an end in mind, though, for this set of images: They were to be used as the windows, door, and ceiling of a spooky castle-like building for a 3D motion graphic video. This was done in AfterEffects using a "fly-through camera" technique. (see the 3D video section of motion to view this video).

These frosted windows are some of my favourite images in all of the "Fantasyscape" series of photos. I do feel that any of the photos in this series stand up in their own right as interesting images, quite apart from their end use in the "fly-through camera" video.

About the Technique

I wanted these photos to be rich and mysterious. I cropped them, saturated the colours, and increased the contrast between the darks and the lights for a spooky, fantasy feeling. I made these images darker than usual, to give them a more sinister look. The purple walls on the sides are not from the original photo, but were added later.
