About The Project
I enjoyed photographing this truly distinctive building at the very hub of Chinatown. The architectural details are pronounced: There is a wonderful, strong curve on the corner of the building, and black paint emphasizes the architectural embellishments under the roof line, and separating the main floor from the 2nd level. Peeling paint only adds to the charm. On every side of the building are huge, Chinese signs advertising everything from the Wah Hing grocery store to Chinese acupuncture to a Chinese travel agent. Here's a view from the front showing the Chinese acupuncture sign. The extreme angle gives the building a weighty and distinguished feel. The strong graphics of the Chinese sign seem to be so integrated into the building, they feel almost architectural.
