Flux [detail] | using basic graphic forms, Freehand Detail Description

About the Project

FLUX & DIRECTIONAL MOVEMENT: With just the very basic shapes of form, such as ovals, rectangles, and lines, we had to form a design which represented a basic graphic design concept, such as positive/negative, or rhythm and repetition. This design spoke to me of flux and directional movement.

About the Technique

This required lots and lots of thumbnail sketches. One had to be very intuitive, open, and responsive to see what worked and felt like it had potential to grow. Translating the thumbnail sketches into drawings in Freehand also meant being open to design changes and ways I could take the basic concept and make it even stronger. I was pleasantly surprised how easily I could take the basic design in Freehand, and experiment with it to strengthen it.
